Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

FWMBC MINISTRIES

A-V Media Ministry

Contact: Larry Warren

Email:avmedia@fwmbc.org

The A-V Media Ministry is responsible for our audio video and media presentation services. Their goal is to ensure the “Word of God” is delivered with clarity to the congregation and recorded for delivery to sick and shut-in-members. This ministry provides audio CD’s of each service held at the Fifth Ward Baptist Church.

Brotherhood Ministry

Contact: Anthony Johnson

The Brotherhood Ministry of FWMBC is striving to disciple and develop men. To engage men in sound Bible teaching and studies that will benefit them in leadership roles and as spiritual heads of households. We want to ensure a sound Christian witness by developing a servant’s attitude for Christian service in our communities and in this world. We have a vision of mentor-ship to save the seed of future generations by teaching and being Godly examples. We encourage all men 18 years and older to come out and study God’s Word with us as we endeavor to become stronger Christian men while positively supporting our Pastor, Church and Community.

Deborah’s Palm Tree Ministry

Contact: Elaine Marshall

Ministry is designed to provide information concerning changes in Civil Laws and to provide assistance in legal matters.

Caring Ministry

Contact: Emily Ward

The Caring Ministry is a pastoral ministry service offered to people of our church and others in the community at vulnerable and painful times in their lives. The caring ministry is for those people who are hospitalized, in nursing homes, or confined to private homes. The Caring Ministry conducts pastoral visits with time to listen to and pray about the concerns of the sick or shut-in person and to share the Lord’s Supper with them.

Deacons Ministry

The Deacons are elected leaders of our Church and are ordained by the Congregation to provide Spiritual Leadership. They work alongside the Pastor and are responsible for the spiritual growth and development of the congregation. Each Deacon assists the Pastor with pastoral duties and they are assigned families for providing immediate response to any spiritual need. Any of these men may be called upon to answer questions about the church or to assist you in your spiritual walk with the Lord. In the spirit of Acts 6:3, our Deacons minister to the Church and serve Jesus by caring for and meeting needs of persons, leading the Church to engage in the fellowship of worship, witnessing, and education, and by supporting and encouraging other church members in their areas of ministry within the church. They are responsible for the administration of the ordinances of the church (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper).

Deaconess, Ministers and Trustee Wives’ Ministry

Contact: Gloretha Bundage

This ministry supports the work of the Pastor and the Deacons by meeting the needs of the congregation and the community; they serve the congregation by assisting the Pastor and the Deacons in the administration of the ordinances of the church (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper) and in ministering to sick or shut-in.

Environmental Ministry

Contact: Murphy Robey

The Environmental ministry has a very important job. They ensure that our facilities are clean, decent and kept in an orderly manner. This ministry of helps is an intricate part of the service that fosters an environment that makes people feel comfortable and welcomed. They work tirelessly inside and outside the church to insure that all who enters our grounds and come through our doors realize that we believe “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”

Greeters Ministry

Contact: Effie Wilkerson

“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the House of the Lord” Psalm 122:1

The “Greeters Ministry” plays a significant role in our church.  As greeters we are responsible for making people feel welcome at church, as well as helping guests feel acquainted with our community. We believe that guests will often decide whether or not to come back to a church before they hear a sermon. Therefore at Fifth Ward, as the first contact that everyone who enters our doors sees, we strive to create a warm and friendly atmosphere to prepare congregants for an enjoyable and uplifting time of worship.

Music Ministry

Contact: Bro. Michael Burns Minister of music

The FWMBC Music Ministry includes the following groups:

  • The Senior Adult Choir
  • The Male Chorus
  • The Women’s Chorus
  • Young Voices of Praise

“It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.”  2 Chronicles 5: 13-14

The Fifth Ward Baptist Church Choirs have been singing praises to the Lord for many years. We invite others in the church to join, and help us lift up the name of Jesus in song.

Usher Ministry

Contact: Deacon Leon Robinson

“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.  I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalms 84:10

We are the link connecting the pulpit and the congregation. We are responsible for seating members and guests, making them feel loved and wanted and comfortable in the house of the Lord. As “doorkeepers” of the House of God, the Ushers are responsible for making our visitors and all who enter the gates of Fifth Ward feel welcome and to tend to their needs while they praise God and worship with us.

Women of Faith Ministry

The goal of the Women’s Ministry is to encourage each woman toward maturity in Christ — by growing in the knowledge of Him through study of His Word (the Bible), by discovering and employing her spiritual gifts as she ministers in the Body of Christ, and by developing her God-given talents through various opportunities of service.

It is our desire that our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified through the events and ministries offered to women, and that His body, the Church, be further strengthened and built up as a result.

Youth Department
